Mayor preparing for barn dance
The Mayor of South Ribble, Councillor Mrs Kath Beattie, is brushing up her dancing skills in readiness for the mayoral Barn Dance on Friday 21 September. The event, which will take place in the Conservatory at Worden Park, Leyland opens its doors at 7.30pm with the dance beginning at 8pm.
Money raised from the event will go towards the mayor's charities which include St Catherine's Hospice in Lostock Hall; Tender Nursing Care in Bamber Bridge which provides respite facilities for carers; and Rainbow House, a disabled children's charity in Eccleston.
This is the latest in a long line of fun events to help raise funds for the mayor's charities. The Barn Dance features a hot pot supper as well as the Houghton Country Dance Band playing live.
Tickets for the event are priced at £8 for adults and £4 for under 10's and are available from Lynda Mears in the Mayor's Office on 625542.
Councillor Kath Beattie, the Mayor of South Ribble, said:
"I would encourage anyone who can make it to this event to come along as these are always very pleasant social occasions. This is another opportunity for the people of South Ribble to show how much pride they take in their local area, community and environment, by coming together in order to support a number of very important charities. Let's just hope that we can keep with the fantastic live band."
