Search for a South Ribble star
Talented performers are being offered the chance to shine in South Ribble's annual Search for a Star competition.
Everyone from singers and dancers to comedians and jugglers are invited to audition for the borough's biggest talent show.
Auditions are being held at South Ribble Banqueting Suite in Leyland on Thursday 28 February, when the Mayor of South Ribble Councillor Colin Clark will join the judging panel and help pick the finalists.
They will then perform in front of a packed audience at the grand final on Friday 19 April when the overall winner will walk away with a £200 cash prize donated by Springfields Fuels Ltd.
In addition, there will be second and third prizes of £100 and £50 respectively, which have been made available thanks to a mystery donor.
All proceeds from ticket sales will go to the Mayor's charities - St Catherine's Hospice, North West Air Ambulance and the Prostate Cancer Charity.
Mayor of South Ribble, Councillor Colin Clark, said: "Our Search for a Star talent contest has become a firm and popular fixture in the civic calendar and has attracted a whole host of first rate performers over recent years."
"Anyone who thinks they can put on a good show is very welcome to come along to our auditions later this month. I am really looking forward to the competition, which will showcase the wealth of local talent that we have in South Ribble."No professionals or past winners are eligible to enter. Artists may use a backing track. To arrange your audition please call Tracy O'Reilly on 01772 625301. The event is free to enter.
