Your Area
Everyone who lives in South Ribble has an area committee. Its job is to consider issues and make decisions that are relevant to your area.
Your area committee is made up of the borough councillors who represent your area. County councillors, parish councillors and local police officers also support the committee and its work.
Your area committee meets six times a year in a place near you - and you're invited.
At each meeting:
- you can expect to hear an update from the police about crime, safety and anti-social behaviour in your area;
- you should find out about any important planning applications that could change the shape of your area;
- there's usually a round-up of issues that the police, borough council and county council are dealing with in your area;
- discussions and debates about traffic, litter, dog fouling, parking, parks, and green spaces, streetlights, graffiti and playgrounds are common too.
Get involved:
You can get more closely involved in helping to shape decisions that affect your area by coming to your area committee meetings; speaking to your councillors or visiting your area's web pages.

Help us to develop an action plan for YOUR AREA:
The council and its partners want to tailor services and spending to meet the needs of people in your area. We can't do this effectively unless you tell us what's most important in making your area a good place to live, and what could be better.
During the next few weeks the council's six area committees will join forces with the county council, police and local health services to gather feedback from people in each area about local priorities and concerns. Everything you tell us will help us to develop a tailored action plan for your area.
Our action team will visit the six areas of South Ribble on the dates listed below. During each day, the team will take to the streets in your area to talk to passers-by about their priorities and concerns.
Then in the evening your area committee will host a public meeting so you can come along and have your say.
