Recycling - general information

A picture of one of our team collecting rubbish to be recycled

Every household in South Ribble produces rubbish. The current disposal method of sending all the waste to landfill is not sustainable as landfill space is running out.

The government has set targets for all councils to reduce the amount of waste which is currently sent to landfill. Recycling is essential to prevent waste going to landfill and the unnecessary mining of raw materials.

To address this South Ribble Borough Council has set up kerbside recycling schemes to help the public to recycle their waste. If everyone uses these services and recycles their waste we can prevent our waste becoming a problem for future generations.
