Household waste recycling centres
The Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) are operated by Lancashire County Council (LCC).
There are 15 recycling centres across Lancashire where householders can recycle their rubbish.
There is one site in South Ribble on Flensburg Way in Farington.
The bigger and better Farington Recycling Centre is due to partially reopen on 4th January 2013, and the temporary recycling centre on Centurion Way closes its gates to the public at 5pm on 31st December 2012.

The opening hours of the centres vary depending on the time of year.
1st Mar - 31st Oct - 8am - 7pm every day
1st Nov - 28/29 Feb - 9am - 6pm every day
The sites only close on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day
Lancashire County Council prides itself on the service provided at the recycling centres. All of them recycle or re-use an extensive range of materials.
They have dedicated staff on hand to help you recycle your rubbish. These staff are easily identifiable in their bright yellow and green uniforms that carry the "Here to help" logo. They are available to assist you with all aspects of your visit to a recycling centre whether it is help with recycling, a hand to unload your car or just help to carry a heavy item.
The recycling centres operate an Access Policy and Permit Scheme which restricts use of the sites by certain large vehicles and trailers. This policy helps to increase safety and reduce congestion at the sites. Please also remember that the recycling centres do not accept trade waste of any description.
