Nationally, Armed Forces Day is being marked on Saturday 30 June – and if you want to find out more details about your nearest event, click here.
In the meantime, here in South Ribble, we have chosen Monday 18 June for our own ceremony at the Civic Centre in Leyland.
Starting at 9:45am, the ceremony will be led by the Mayor of South Ribble, Councillor John Rainsbury, and Deputy Lieutenant Charles Hadcock and will include a prayer from the Mayor's Chaplain, Father Martyn Rogers.
The Armed Forces Day flag will also be raised above the Civic Centre as a mark of respect and solidarity of those who have served, and are currently serving, in the Armed Forces.
Then, Phil Burton, Royal Artillery Lance Bombardier, will address the ceremony.
Refreshments will be served in the Civic Centre afterwards.
