Our Big Tree Plant in South Ribble

Our Big Tree Plant has ambitions to plant over 110,000 trees in South Ribble, that is one for every resident in the borough.

The programme started in December 2019 and will take place over the next four years.

The motivation behind Our Big Tree Plant is to help improve the air quality in South Ribble and contribute towards our commitment to aim to be a carbon-neutral borough by 2030.

To kick-start the project South Ribble Borough Council held a tree giveaway event in November where over 3000 trees and hedging whips were given to residents to plant in their gardens. Read more about the event here.

We welcome residents, businesses and schools to join in Our Big Tree Plant by planting trees at their homes or premises and adding them to the planting total.

We would love to hear from anyone in South Ribble who is planting trees and the progress as they grow. Keep us informed through our social media channels on Facebook and Twitter using the hashtag #OurBigTreePlant or by email to communications@southribble.gov.uk with Our Big Tree Plant in the subject line.
