Council offering FREE double-glazed windows and doors to eligible residents this winter

South Ribble Borough Council is once again providing its Winter Warmth scheme for eligible homeowners to access free double-glazing and doors as replacements for single-glazed, energy inefficient timber versions.

Winter Warmth

To qualify a resident must:

  • Be 65 or over with a pre-existing medical condition and in a household where someone is registered disabled
  • Have single-glazed windows and doors
  • Be the owner occupiers of the property and
  • Not have benefitted from the scheme previously in the last 10 year

Residents can apply by calling the Council on 01772 625363 and more information can be found at https://www.southribble.gov.uk/article/1335/Energy-efficiency.

Councillor Mick Titherington, Cabinet Member for Health, Wellbeing and Leisure at South Ribble Borough Council, said: "It's abhorrent that in 2022 there are still people across our borough living in fuel poverty. Energy prices are rising and its more important than ever for our homes to be as energy efficient as they can.

"This sadly of course is a luxury many in need cannot afford, which is why I'm pleased that we are able to bring back our Winter Warmth scheme to help those eligible to replace their energy inefficient single-glazed windows and doors with energy efficient double-glazing, while also offering boilers and fire services completely free of charge.

"As a Council we're dedicated to ensuring that the most vulnerable in our communities are supported and this is just one of the ways we are helping residents to make sure they're winter ready.

"The scheme is running until 31 March 2022 or until the funding has been spent, so please check if you or your family are eligible as soon as possible."

Eligible residents will receive up to one new white front composite door, one new white UVPC rear door and any two windows in the house.

*Funding is still availble after 31 March 2022 for double glazing windows and doors.
