A MEETING of the Cabinet at South Ribble Borough Council last night voted in favour of scrapping all charges to treat rat or mice problems in domestic properties.
On 21 June, the charges were suspended by Cabinet pending further discussion.
And now, it has been officially confirmed with a unanimous vote on Wednesday 11 July.
Councillor Caroline Moon, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Environment and Community Safety at South Ribble Borough Council, said: “Last month, the Cabinet suspended charges for rat and mice-related pest control services for residential properties.
“This decision was taken after we became aware of an increasing concern from residents about this issue – and we were determined to review the council’s policy.
“We pride ourselves on being a listening council; we will always take residents’ feedback on board.
“We hope this move will reassure people that we're not afraid to review a decision taken in the past if it doesn't appear to be working.”
