The countdown is on to this year's Penwortham Live!
With more than 164 performances to choose from at venues across town, visitors will be spoilt for choice at the summer’s hottest live music festival.
Kicking off on Friday, 18 May, and running across Saturday 19 May, Penwortham Live! is bigger and better than ever before, according to organiser Nigel Stewart from the Creative Network.
“This year we have new venues, including some in Lower Penwortham, which we’re really excited about,” said Nigel.
“There’s also more appearances than ever before, but we’re offering all this at the same fantastic price of £5 for a wristband.
“I always look forward to this weekend of the year. It’s a lot of pressure, but also a huge buzz. I say it’s like Glastonbury without the mud!”
In its sixth year, Penwortham Live! will take place at 21 different venues across the town and showcase more than 100 acts, including rock bands, pop artists, acoustic and jazz.
With something for everyone, there'll also be golden oldies, show tunes, indie-folk and even heavy metal.
And you are just as likely to see an indie rock band in the local Spar supermarket or Scout hut as you are a jazz band in a church.
You can even try out your own musical talent by attending one of the open mic sessions.
Although organiser Nigel insists all of the performers are great, his not-to-be-missed act is Canadian folk duo The Lewinskies. The husband-and-wife are currently on tour and are playing four spots at Penwortham Live while they pass through.
Entry is by £5 wristband and these can be bought in advance in the run-up to the events, or on the night, at any of the venues. Under 11s go free.
The performances begin at 7pm, with the last act starting at 10pm. Acts will move between venues approximately every 45 minutes.
