Do you know someone inspirational who deserves recognition?
Then now is your chance to put them in the limelight thanks to South Ribble’s Community Awards 2017.
Nominations have just opened for this popular annual celebration of the selfless, caring and truly amazing individuals and groups that make South Ribble the UK’s best place to live.
This year the event has built on its success by adding another category – the Partnership Award, which is sponsored by Birchall Blackburn Law and which recognises examples of collaboration by groups and organisations that have resulted in outstanding outcomes.
In addition to this there are six other awards: Volunteer of the Year and, for those aged up to 24, Young Volunteer of the Year; Business in the Community, for a business that actively supports its community through positive action; Spirit in the Community, which recognises an individual who is inspirational in the way they contribute to daily life to their community; Special Achievement, for someone who has made an outstanding contribution to the borough; Community Impact, which recognises a voluntary, community or faith organisation that has made an amazing contribution to the communities of South Ribble.
The awards culminate in a glittering presentation evening at the Leyland Hotel on October 26, where guests will be entertained by talented local magician Zanda and awards will be presented by vice Lord Lieutenant of Lancashire Colonel Alan Jolley OBE.
Karen Sharrocks, chair of the South Ribble Partnership, which runs the awards, said:
“The fact that the Community Awards have continued to grow each year is a clear indication of the number of
caring and committed people there are in South Ribble who work tirelessly for their communities.
“From the large number of applications we receive we’re aare that there are a lot of individuals,
businesses and community groups who give a great deal of their time to make a difference – and we
want to hear about them. By nominating your community hero you can help us to celebrate their
selfless generosity of spirit.”
