A brand new free family event for 2019 promoting physical and mental wellbeing in South Ribble – come along and join in from 11 am to 4 pm at Worden Park, Leyland.
On the day there will be plenty of attractions to test your body and broaden your mind to the possibility of living in a more active way using South Ribble’s fantastic green spaces.
There will be demonstrations from the Challenge Through Sport Initiative, Lancashire Fire and Rescue, Lancashire Police.
Join in a balance bike limbo challenge, Yoga with Tanya or an inflatable obstacle course provided by Healthier Heroes.

This TRY-athlon is unique in that you decide the distances to complete from a pick and mix of options to swim, cycle and run. This creates a truly unique and fun introduction to triathlons. You can challenge your friends, family and colleagues or just challenge yourself to complete the event.

choose your distance 25m – 50m – 100m – 200m – 400m
Choose a guided ride or a spin bike time challenge. The guided rides are led by qualified British Cycling ride leaders with 3 distances to select from:
- 27k ride – circles the borough boundary taking in Buckshaw Village, Cuerden Valley and Avenham Park – departs 12.30 pm
- 5k ride - circular route around Worden Park – departs at 30 minute intervals from 12 pm to 2.30 pm
- 1k ride – guided traffic-free ride within the park – various times
Spin bikes – based at Leyland Leisure Centre – timed challenges - you choose the time you spend on the bike 5, 10 or 15 minutes.
Junior Park Run – 1 pm
5k run within Worden Park
2 pm (complete 1 lap for 1.6k, 2 laps for 3.2k or 3 laps for 5k)

Lancashire Fire and Rescue - demonstration with a fire engine and two pass mats (large ground- based mats that show a safe distance for passing cyclists on the road)
Wheels for All - a fantastic organisation that provide sessions of cycling for people who may have physical or mental challenges. They have a range of adapted bikes that can cater for most circumstances including hand pedalled bikes, trikes and even a bike that can fit a wheelchair on the back. The attendance of wheels for all can encourage and raise awareness of inclusive cycling opportunities.
Bill Nickson Cycles - established local business with a stand selling bikes and an expo of new electric bikes for people to try
Cycle Roots CiC - provide cycling sessions and maintenance sessions for many different kinds of groups in the community. On the day they will be offering a free bike check to all who need one by two trained mechanics.
Leyland Commercial Vehicle museum - retro bikes and a retro vehicles
Dance from the Heart - an event that has happened in the majority of South Ribble primary schools with themed dance and an art project. All welcome to join in and artworks displayed on the day.
Brothers of Charity - plant stall selling the things they have grown in the walled garden in Worden park.
Magic Story Jars - a workshop that brings kids stories to life with and ethical twist of green recycling.
The Rusty Chain Company - a selection of retro bikes and a place to store and judge the best retro bike brought along on the day
Child Action Northwest - workshop
Challenge Sport Initiative - fun archery workshop with awareness of sporting opportunities for all
Blitz Bounce - a fun trampoline experience for children
